Connect to Service

  • Ushers

Our ushers are the face of our church every Sunday as well as special services. They greet members and guests alike with a friendly and welcoming manner. They collect the offering and assist with communion. They rotate monthly. The usher coordinator is Janice Troutman who can be reached at the church office, (863) 676-2516.

We have an assigned greeter present to assist guests with everything they need to know about making worship comfortable and accessible. We want everyone to feel at home. When you are with us, you are with family.

  • Hospitality

Before the worship service, we offer coffee, juice, baked goods, and casual conversation from 10 AM through 10:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall located opposite the sanctuary entrance.

The host for setting up and bringing goodies rotates monthly. This ministry is coordinated by Stephanie Wambles and Gail Crum.

  • Tech Booth

Sunday worship involves a lot of behind the scenes work to make our worship accessible for all members, guests, and friends. Every time our doors are open, we need the support of this team. Our volunteer techs operate lights, sound system, video production, and live streaming. We always need new people in the booth. Steve Knitter provides training and coordination for this crucial ministry and would love to have new trainees

  • Acolytes

Our young people minster when they serve as an Acolyte and lead the start of worship by bringing in the light of Christ into the sanctuary and symbolically taking Christ’s light out into the world at the close of worship. The two candles on the altar separately represent the divinity and humanity of Christ’s nature. We especially welcome and train children and youth from 4th grade up. Please speak to the Pastor if interested.

  • Altar Guild & Communion Stewards

Under the faithful leadership of Judy Brooks, this team prepares the sanctuary for worship every week with the colors for every season of the Christian year with Paraments, not to mention making sure pews are supplied with necessary items including prayer request cards and the sign in pad. They also prepare the Lord’s table for Holy communion every 1st Sunday and for special worship services. Judy can usually be found at the church on Thursday mornings and every Sunday.

  • Environment & Art

Lee Belding, an accomplished artist and interior designer, heads up this special ministry with her ad hoc group’s support. She designs the worship space including “altarscapes,” banners and special seasonal worship in the Christian year. She would love to add you to her team. To volunteer, please call the church office during office hours, Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 1 PM, at (863) 676-2516.

  • Kairos

Our church is an active participant in Kairos Prison Ministry. The purpose of the program is to establish the Kairos Christian community inside prisons through the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. There are many ways to support the Kairos Ministry. For information on how to become involved, contact Rodney Allen through the church office at (863) 676-2516.

  • Community Kitchen

The Community Kitchen is a weekly meal ministry where members of the community receive a sit-down meal, select available groceries, and share in Christian fellowship Sundays with volunteers from local churches and civic groups. This ministry is sponsored and hosted by the Care Center of Lake Wales.

Our congregation is responsible for cooking or purchasing the food for the third Sunday of February, May, August, and November. John and Patti Berry, who coordinate for FUMC, say that extra hands and open, friendly hearts are always needed to serve. You will be blessed!

Contact the church office at 863-676-2516 or John & Patti Berry to volunteer or ask questions.
