During the holiday season, the Lake Wales Care Center strives to be a bridge for families in need by providing food to families during Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The barrels for this year's food drive are located in the narthex and in the hallway outside the church office. Food donations will be collected through December 17th.

Join Steve Knitter for a 12-week Bible study titled “The Journey to Spiritual Maturity.”  Together, participants will travel with Moses and the Hebrew people through the Sinai wilderness, exploring how God shaped them after their deliverance from Egypt.

Each week will feature a video highlighting one of the Israelites’ stops along the journey and the spiritual lesson learned there.

The paperback workbook is available from the author’s website for $8. The class will meet beginning on Tuesday, November 11th at 9 AM in Room 103 and will run through December 16th. After a two week break for the holidays, the class will begin meeting again on January 6th and continue until February 17th.

The New Orleans Nighthawks Quartet begins their Florida winter season on Friday, November 14th at 6:30 PM in the church Fellowship Hall. The performance will feature special guest, Terry Myers on tenor sax.

The concert is free!! And free pizza and soft drinks will be served from 6:15 PM until 7:30 PM.

Put on your dancing shoes, invite a friend, and come enjoy an evening of lively traditional jazz music!

ThanksLiving Camp is a service-oriented youth camp sponsored by the Lake Wales Care Center that takes place November 23-25. Campers will care for neighbors through a variety of activities that give back to the community. In addition to caring for the community, campers will be challenged to grow through their experiences serving others and will have dedicated devotion and reflection times throughout camp. For those not yet ready to participate in a week-long summer camp, ThanksLiving Camp is a great primer for Stay-at-Home Work Camp. This camp is for students in 6th-12th grade.

Our church is providing lunch for the campers on Monday, November 24th. The United Women in Faith will help prepare and serve the meal as their service project for the month of November. If you would like to help with the lunch, please contact Patti Berry at 863-604-3498.

Advent is from Sunday November 29 - Wednesday December 25 and is a period of preparation for both “advents”, or arrivals, of Jesus Christ - both His incarnation on Earth, and his Second Coming.

One of the ways we reflect on Advent in communal worship is by utilizing an Advent wreath--a simple wreath surrounding four exterior candles and one central candle. The four exterior candles represent the hallmarks of a renewed creation: joy, hope, peace and love. The central candle represents the presence of Christ.

Join the class and learn sign language in a fun and supportive environment! No prior experience needed—everyone is welcome to participate and practice communication through sign.

Carolyn McCullough leads the class every Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Please join us Thursday, November 27th at 2:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall for our Annual Church Family Thanksgiving Dinner! Let's gather together to give thanks, share a meal, and celebrate God's blessings in our lives.

Please bring your favorite side dish or dessert to share. The church will provide turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and drinks. This is a wonderful time to enjoy fellowship, good food, and gratitude with your church family.

Each year for Christmas, FUMCLW partners with The Family Literacy Academy of Lake Wales to give a pair of pajamas, a book, and a stuffed animal to each child who participates in the educational program at the Academy.

The project will run from November 16th through December 7th. Pick a tag for a boy or girl and bring a pair of new pajamas (unwrapped) to the church and place them on the altar. A donation of $10 will provide a book and a stuffed animal for each child.

Join us Thursdays at 8:45 as the children learn Bible stories and songs to praise the Lord!

The children will be invited to our December 14th service to sign Jesus Loves Me with our signing group
